FALLEN TREES DAMAGE POWER LINES CAUSING OUTAGES

Power supply has been disrupted in parts of

Nairobi and its environs after the heavy rains

caused damages on the Kenya Power electricity

network.

The heavy rains uprooted trees which fell one

sections of electricity feeders serving several

City estates.

Some of the areas affected by the outages

included Kitisuru, Nyari, Runda, Gigiri Githurai,

Loresho Eastleigh, Kangemi, Gachie and parts

of Kileleshwa.

General Manager in charge of Network

Management, Eng. Charles Mwaura, said the

Company has deployed emergency teams and

are currently battling to remove the trees,

branches on power lines for speedy restoration

of electricity supply to customers.

“In some instances, it will not be possible to

restore supplies immediately due to severity of

the damage and the intricate nature of repairs,

replacement of broken conductors,” said Eng.

Mwaura.

The Company is urging patience from affected

clients as the repair teams strive to restore

power supply.
