GOVERNOR SONKO FILES CASE SEEKING TO HAVE HIS ACCOUNTS UNFROZEN.

In application filed at Milimani lower Criminal court, the embattled Nairobi County Governor is much disturbed, why Asset Recovery Agency has not obeyed the orders issued by court on 11th December 2019 to freeze his nine Bank accounts for 14 days which lapsed on 24th of December and was to be heard on 23rd December 2019 but failed.

The Asset Recovery Agency filed an application before Senior Magistrate Elector Rianny on 02nd January 2020 seeking to investigate Governor Mike Sonko’s nine Bank accounts, where they were granted orders.

The recovery team appearing before the duty Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku informed the Court that they intend to file an application for an extension to complete their investigations.

On 24 December 2019 Governor Mike Sonko was informed by his bankers that his accounts with Diamond Trust Bank Limited, National Bank, Equity Bank and Kenya Commercial Bank were frozen following an ex parte order on 11th December 2019.

Governor Sonko through application under certificate of urgency accused Asset Recovery Agency of intentionally failing to serve all the parties the application filed on 10th December 2019 which was set for hearing on 23rd December 2019.

The miscellaneous criminal application number 4477/2019 was served to Kenya Commercial Bank Limited, Diamond Trust Bank, I & M Bank, Sidian Bank limited, National Bank Limited, Bank of Africa Limited, Equity Bank Limited, Cooperative Bank Limited, Credit Bank Limited and Mike Sonko the Governor of Nairobi.

The Governor in his application filed before Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku in his prayer number four want the Asset Recovery Agency to vacate, since the fourteen days issued by court to investigate his bank accounts lapsed.

The parties appearing before Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku on Wednesday 08th January 2020 at 11.54 am East Africa Time, where Court directed Asset Recovery Agency, Equity Bank and Mike Sonko to serve and file their responses before mention on 14th of January 2020 a head of hearing on 27th January at 10am.
