Nanzushi at Milimani Law Court Nairobi County

Matatu Driver operating at Old Nation Round
about Lawrence Matemo Kiarie in his 40s
pleaded not guilty to causing the death of
female Nation Media Group Journalist by
dangerous driving.
Christine Angila Omulando a staff at Nation
Media Group on 16th March 2020 at around
1pm decided to take a great lunch along Tom
Mboya Street Nairobi near Old Nation Round
about.
And while standing along the pavement waiting
to cross the road, Lawrence the accused driving
Toyota Matatu registration KAQ 807F knocked
down the deceased , killing her on the spot.
In separate counts the accused was also
charged with careless driving where he pleaded
not guilty of knocking down three other female
pedestrians, constance Biko, Sarah Karimi and
Lucy Wanjiru Kimani.
The accused driving on a public road without
care and reasonable consideration for other
road users knocked down four female
pedestrians standing on the pavement killing
one, the journalist and occasioning injuries to
other three.
Senior Magistrate Martha Nanzushi released
the accused on a bond of 0.4 million Kenya
shillings surety of the same or a cash bail of 0.1
million Kenya shillings plus one contact person
pending the trial.
Lawrence was remanded at Central Police
Station Nairobi County Kenya since the prison
are not admitting remandees due to
Coronavirus pandemic.
