ALL HOUSE GIRLS IN KENYA TO EARN 11, 000 KSH MONTHLY PAY

In line with the employment act, any Kenyan who will seeks the services of a house help will have to pay 11,247 thousands Kenya shillings as monthly salary .

Failure to honour the payment, mistreatments or underpaying the house helps /house girls is heavenly punishable under Kenyan employment act.

Kenyan working class women in their 20s and 30s who mostly relies on the services of house girls, stand warned or risk being punished .

Section 31(1) of the Employment act states, the employer must provide a good and reasonable housing for his or her house helps .

Section 31 also demands that the employer must give the house helps, a house allowance of 15 percent (1,467 ksh) if they will not provide shelter for their domestic servants.

They are popularly known as Aunties, “Mboch”, house girls, domestic workers, house helps or famously called “maids”.

Will be legally recognised through written or verbal /oral contract inline with the Kenyan employment act.

And in section 41 employment act, any domestic servants/house girls in Kenya who’s rights are infringed, under pay, mistreated, unlawfully sacked /contract nullified unnecessarily or disobeyed by the employer has aright to sue at the Labour Courts of Kenya.

Section 43 and 45 empowers the employer to terminate the contract of the house helps for gross misconduct if they fail to change there attitudes and reconciliation by other parties like relatives proves irreparable .

Verbal or written contract between the employer and house girls is binding and legal inline with the employment act and will be considered by labour courts during disputes resolutions.

It’s now official all domestic workers /house girls in Kenya who are under payed and mistreated are free to seek Labour and employment court assistance to seek justice.
