NO FACILITIES FOR VIRTUAL HEARING AT MILIMANI COURT AS FAKE MAGISTRATE ARRESTED

The State prosecution, Court clerks, Lawyers and the

accused were forced to use their personal smart phones

during plea taking session in an open Court at Milimani

Nairobi County.

The changes, virtual proceedings were abruptly initiated

on Monday 17th August 2020 following a two week isolation

after court officials were suspected of being infected

with the deadly pandemic leading to partial closure.

Judiciary is unable to acquire digital facilities to fully

implement virtual Court proceedings due to financial

challenges.

While at Kibera Law Nairobi, all the Magistrates

physically attended Court proceedings and adhered to

Health and safety measures with operations running

smoothly.

As youthful Victor Kiprono Ngeno in his 20s was arraigned

before Senior Resident Magistrate at Kibera Law Court to

face charges of impersonating as a Magistrate and hired a

Prado from a car dealer at Kilimani area Nairobi.

Kiprono is alleged to have made a Law Society of Kenya

identification card with intention to defraud the Nairobi

based car dealer.

The accused will be charged on Tuesday 18th August with

three counts of impersonating as a Magistrate, making a

document without authority and refusing to permit

photograph to be taken.
