KENYAN JUDICIARY STAFF SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS IMPRISONMENT

Nairobi’s Anti Corruption Court Senior Principal

Magistrate Latizia Wachira while delivering her

Lengthy Judgment at Milimani law Court,

stressed that the image of Kenyan Judiciary

has been maligned with corruption allegations

and sentenced the accused, Judiciary staff and

her co accused on hash penalty, to serve as an

example.

The second accused Kenyan Judiciary Court

clerk Adeline Shitawa Murunga who was

attached to assist Senior High Court Judge,

Lady Justice Roseline Aburili , was found guilty

by the Anti Corruption Court for conspiracy to

commit an offence of corruption contrary to

section 47A (3) as read with section 48 of the

Anti Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, no. 3

of 2003.

And in a separate count, the single Mother of

eight year old school going, was also found

guilty by the trial Senior Principal Magistrate

Latizia Wachira of receiving a bribe contrary to

section 6 (1) (a) as read with section 18 of the

bribery act no. 47 of 2016.

While her co accused 66 year old Joseph Ngigi

Wainaina from Kiambu County Kenya who

informed the Court that he’s a strong believer of

our maker and suffering from diabetes, high

blood pressure and obesity was also found

guilty of offering a bribe, contrary to section 5

(1) as read with section 18 (1) of bribery act, no.

47 of 2016.

The first offender who was very remorseful

during his mitigation and repeatedly reminded

the trial Senior Principal Magistrate Latizia

Wachira that if sentenced to prison, he stand to

die since his old age render him vulnerable to

the deadly coronavirus pandemic, was also

found guilty of conspiracy to commit an offence

of corruption.

The two accused were found guilty in all counts

and were sentenced to two years imprisonment

or pay a fine of 0.8 million Kenya shillings each,

the two convicts were remanded at Kilimani

Police Station Nairobi County, since the Country

Prisons are not admitting convicts due to the

deadly coronavirus pandemic that has

terrorised Nations Globally.

Adeline Shitawa single mother of one who is

also expectant seven months and Joseph Ngigi

conspired and the two convict on several

occasions contacted one another, with a

mission to compromise a ruling that was

pending before Lady Justice Roseline Aburili in

favour of Joseph Ngigi who had a matter before

the said Respectable Judge of the High Court

who is now the principal Judge at Siaya County

Courts.

The two convicts Adeline was found guilty to

have received a bribe of 50,000 Kenya shillings

and Joseph offered the bribe to compromised

the ruling of his case, during the trial at

Milimani law Court Nairobi County Kenya,

Respectable Judge of the High Court, Lady

Justice Roseline Aburili was one of the State’s

Prosecution key witness.
