COURT STOPS NATIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ELECTIONS

Nairobi’s Senior resident Magistrate has stopped the National Chamber of commerce election, pending the hearing of the matter on 04th February 2020 before Hon. M. W. Murage.

The scheduled election which was to take place on Friday 24th January 2020 at Nairobi’s Sarova Panafric Hotel at 8.30am East Africa Time has been cancelled by Senior resident Magistrate.

The orders signed by Senior Resident Magistrate M. W Murage on 22nd Wednesday of January 2020 is to be served to all the parties.

And disobedience or non observance of the order of the court given on 22nd of January 2020 will result in penal consequences to any persons disobeying and not observing the same.

And an application shall be made citing any other persons disobeying for Contempt of the court seeking therein for detention of breach and other punishment plus all the remedy available in law.

In a civil case number 257 of the year 2020, the plaintiff Mary Nyachae through her officer of the Court Dunstan Omari filed an application under certificate of urgency seeking to stop the National Chamber of commerce elections on grounds that the process was breached .

Citing a breach of the election process, where she was seeking a temporary injunction which was issued restraining the Respondents, agents and servants from any manner conducting or causing the conduct of the election on the chairperson of the Women in Business Committee.

The application which was served to two respondents Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industries as the first defendant and Richard Ngatia the second defendant confirmed receiving Court order barring them from conducting election.
