CORONAVIRUS PERMANENTLY CHANGED LIVES
By St. Martin CSA (African Times Guest Writer)
With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, St
Martin CSA naturally kept a close eye on their
beneficiaries and quickly noticed that the
necessary measures to contain the virus had
huge effects on their lives.
In many cases, the most basic daily needs
couldn’t be met anymore. St. Martin CSA ,
therefore, launched an Emergency Relief
Programme (ERP).
The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted many
lives – and the vulnerable groups and at St
Martin CSA communities are badly hit .
When shops has to close and travel activities
are reduced many small jobs and casual
labourers are not available anymore.
Without this small source of income, many
families don’t know how to make ends meet .
To seal the gap, St. Martin CSA in collaboration
with the Laikipia County Government, L’Arche
Kenya and Talitha Kum initiated an Emergency
Response Project to alleviate the needs of the
most vulnerable families.
The restrictions imposed to contain the
coronavirus have disrupted many lives.
Especially people who are vulnerable and
already facing many problems found
themselves in peril very quickly.
The coronavirus pandemic affected the work of
St. Martin CSA. Observing health measures by
washing hands frequently, social distancing,
many of activities had to be halted or re-
organised. And at the same time, new needs
appear in the communities that need to be
addressed.
