The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and his counter part from the Anti Corruption Department (EACC) are burning night candles to successfully quash the bond, bail terms advanced to charged embattled Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko.
As the Country scholars are divided on their opinions based on law, whether the Charged embattled Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko should continue discharging County duties or refrain, as he wait for clearance through the determination of his ongoing Anti corruption case.
The dispute arose after the Nairobi County Governor Sonko, who was charged in late December 2019, should discharge his duties.
Two weeks ago the Nairobi Capital City Governor intentionally and deliberately Nominated his Deputy Governor after running the County lone ranger for two years .
A move the State Prosecution (DPP) and the Anti Corruption body (EACC) aggressively protested, by filling an application before the trial Anti Corruption Court, seeking Court orders to cancel the bond terms advanced to the City Governor, Sonko .
While other think tanks legally and through references from the Constitution of the Republic of Kenya, are of the view that, the charged City embattled Governor was only prevented from going to the County Office, but can still discharge his duties anywhere and not in the City County office.
On Wednesday 15th January 2020, the Nairobi County Governor Sonko appeared before Nairobi’s Anti Corruption Court for directions, where by through his officers of the Court, they rejected the State idea of serving them the defence with the documentary materials in bundles as they opted to be served by each counts the Governor is Charged with.
As the ruling to determine how the State Prosecution should serve the accused with the documentary materials which they will use to defend themselves against the State corruption allegations will be delivered on Friday 24th January 2020 at 9.30am East Africa Time.
